This was previously recorded on Wednesday July 20, 2011, 2-3:30 p.m., Eastern

What you will learn:
You will learn the basics on how to prepare child care centers and family child care homes for disasters. The United States has already experienced several deadly and destructive tornados and floods this year and hurricane season is underway. Child care centers and family child care providers are impacted when a natural, technological or man-made disaster strikes their area. Child care programs must be prepared to protect the children in their care as well as the adults and volunteers working in the program. They must also be prepared to protect the program’s assets so they can begin providing child care for first responders and parents as soon as it is safe to do so. Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&Rs) and other community early childhood professionals are in a unique position to prepare child care programs for this important responsibility.
