Summary:

The webinar series consists of six, 90-minute sessions. The sessions will occur from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST on March 24th, 31st, April 14th, 21st, 28th, May 5th.

 Each participant will be invited to participate in the online, facilitated discussion board that will take place via naccrra.ning.com.

 The technical requirements to participate in a NACCRRA webinar are an Internet connection, computer (including a sound card), speakers and microphone.


 

What you will learn: :

This six-part live webinar series will cover in detail establishing trust with and building on competencies of Latino children and families, effective, culturally responsive teaching methodologies, supporting dual language development, facilitating Latino Parent Focus Groups and being generally inclusive of Latino family values in our programs.


About the Facilitator:
Cecelia Alvarado is a former Senior Associate and Director of Taking the Lead, a national early childhood leadership initiative at the Wheelock College. Cecelia was Chairperson of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Department at Santa Barbara City College from 1982-1997. She is a former president of the California Association for the Education of Young Children. Cecelia currently consults with the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), NBCDI and Teaching for Change in Washington DC, and teaches in the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University. A long time proponent of culturally and linguistically responsive programs for young children, Cecelia visited over 50 Latino-serving programs throughout the country in her research and training initiative Sembrando Semillas that she developed with her colleague Antonia Lopez of NCLR.
